Other fun stuff on the web. First, Robert Kagan on why he's not a Straussian. Maybe he's just kidding? PREVIEW: I Am Not a Straussian. If that's not enough intellectual-ism for one day, try Francis Fukuyama's article on "After Neoconservatism" from the (constantly-declining-in-quality) NY Times. Sometimes smart, even coming from Mr. End of History.
Then, along more Y-alien lines, there's John Powers' LA Times review of conservative columnist Bruce Bartlett's "Imposter," which is critical of GW Bush (or, in always-pompous YDN style, "George W. Bush '68.").
Basically, Powers points out that the "true believers" in the Reagan revolution like Bartlett (the ranks of Yale conservatives, at least, are chock full of such believers) are completely out of touch with the goals, agenda, and face (namely, "George W. Bush '68) of the modern Republican party.
"It's far too late to resuscitate the old-school conservatism that rose from the ashes of Barry Goldwater's defeat in 1964," writes Powers. Amen to that.
